Building 7 Update “Liberation”

After a long period of silence, it was determined that the abandoned home known as “The Mannequin House” was to be torn down. The demolition occurred some weeks ago, followed shortly thereafter by the removal of debris. However, not all of the items found in the home were accounted for, and many have claimed the mannequins from the home have been moving about Wellington Street.

The first sighting occurred a couple of days after the destruction of the building. A young man was walking his girlfriend home that night from a party, knowing that she had a tight curfew. The street was mostly empty, making the walk home mostly uneventful. As they were approaching the girls home, they noticed a stark white figure across the street. Approaching closer to get a better look, they realized that the form was in fact a display mannequin, similar to the sort you would find in a store. It was positioned next to a tree, its head pointed in the direction of the couple. The girl claims she had been frightened of it, and was quickly dropped off. The man left after that, though he says that he swears the position of the mannequin's head had changed.

A couple of days passed before the next sighting. In a local park, several families arrived to see a group of three Mannequin's sitting at a picnic table. As the hours passed, more people arrived to the park to play and converse. The children especially seemed interested in the trio, and throughout the day many sat next to them and even spoke to them. This progressed without incident for most of the day. However, at around 3:00 PM a young boy began to push and yell at the mannequins. After about a minute of this, he grabbed one of them and pulled it to the ground. When his parents went to intervene, the boy ran from them, only to collapse to the ground several moments later, crying in pain.

The boy immediately went to the hospital, where it was determined that his leg had been fractured. By the next morning the mannequins had disappeared from the park.

Several other reports persisted since that point, but it was the most recent event that has drawn the most attention. In the early morning, a garbage crew went to collect a bin positioned in a wide alley. Within minutes they contacted police, claiming that they had found a body, inexplicably “standing” in the middle. Police arrived shortly and quickly closed off the area. In the alley they found a middle aged woman, who seemed to have died the night before. Several steel rods had been shoved into her limbs and joints, propping her up in a position not unlike a glass display model. As unlikely as it may seem, this damage to her body was not the cause of death, though it was determined that it did occur when the woman was alive.

The steel came from an abandoned factory, a great distance from the incident. Toxicology revealed that she had been drinking, though alcohol poisoning was ruled out as the cause of death. Further investigations did eventually reveal that the woman had suffered a massive heart attack. This is strange as the woman's medical history showed no indication of any cardiovascular issues. The people in the neighboring houses claimed they hadn't heard anything the night before, and a look into the local bars, as well as conversations with friends and colleagues, suggests that she had been drinking alone in her home before the incident.

A couple of feet from the woman's body was a broken mannequin, separated in several pieces. Near the “body” was a large stick approximately three inches in diameter, which it is asserted was likely used to break it. Splinters in the woman's hands suggested that she had used the object in question.

The time scale for the attack is remarkably short, approximately four minutes. How such damage could have occurred in such a short amount of time is unknown, and it is assumed that the assailant or assailants had to be aware of where the woman would be sometime before in order to account for the complex nature of the crime. Regardless of the full motive, it has been assumed by many that whoever attacked the woman likely also had a personal connection with the mannequin's.
