Factory 1 Update “Visit from the Surgeon”

Over a month ago, a woman was brought into the hospital with severe trauma to her body. She had been joined by three other friends who due to complications failed to survive the encounter. She has been recovering steadily over the last couple of weeks, though this may have changed permanently. At this time, she is under psychological evaluation, and there are officers posted at her room. It is still unknown how the very man who caused her injuries in the first place managed to visit her in her room without being noticed.

Unfortunately, much of what is known about what happened during the visit comes from the word of the patient. However, considering the girl's fragile mental state it is unknown how much of what she related can be considered to be true. Even without the girl’s testimony, there are some things about the events that transpired that can be pinned down.

Shortly after she initially arrived at the hospital, discussions were had concerning the large areas of exposed bone on the girls face and pelvic areas. After extensive planning, skin and tissue grafts were applied successfully. A week after the surgery had been performed is when the events transpired. At around one in the afternoon the girls overseeing doctor came in to look in on her, as well as to administer to her a series of medicine. These were designed to help prevent rejection of the tissues. The family was asked at this time to leave, as it was time for her to be cleaned and have her bandages changed. It is believed that the assailant visited the girl sometime between when the doctors and nurses finished their work, and the parents returned.

The nurses claim that they did not see anyone enter the girls room, but admit that they were not paying a great deal of attention as there were many other patients being watched over in the ICU. At around one thirty, the mother and father returned to the room and promptly called for help. It had seemed that the girl had torn the grafts from her face, then cleaned the area of blood with her bed sheets.

By the time the parents arrived she had started pulling out the stitches attaching the new tissues around her hips and groin. All reports indicate that the girl only started screaming after she was restrained.

What follows is the spoken testimony of the girl, given the day after the incident. It was recorded, as it was determined that the girl may not be able to relate the details again later. Her mind has continued to deteriorate since the incident.

The curtains were drawn when he came into the room. The doctors say that it isn't good to expose the grafts to lots of sunlight. At first I thought it was my dad, but it didn't take long for me to realize it wasn't. It was the way he entered. He started by using the hand sanitizer by the door, then moved onto the sink and washed his hands. Not the way we would wash our hands. He washed his hands like a doctor.

He walked over to the side table and put down some objects he had brought in. Then he went over to my IV...he put something in it, that kept me from moving. I couldn't speak. I couldn't move. Then he turned on a light.

She became hysterical at this point, and it took several minutes for her to calm down enough to speak.

His face...I wanted to scream so badly, but I couldn't. He looked at me through those sewn eyes of his. He seemed...disappointed.

He started talking to me, in that horrible, thin tone.

He walked over to me, ran his fingers along the stitching...his hands were soft...

I couldn't follow him as he moved around the room, though I heard him murmuring the numbers on the heart rate monitor. Then he was in front of me, looking down at me.

“You are a living, breathing work of art. Like marble, in order to reveal the form, I had to remove the excess.”

He...walked to the table, where he had put down some things before...He said...he brought me some things...they were in jars...he grabbed a mirror...held it up to my face.

The look on his face...it was concern.

He inserted something into my IV. I began to feel like I could move again.

“There is no shame in screaming...what they have done is terrible.”

The objects inside the jars had been stored in formaldehyde. In one of the jars was the skin from her face, one of the few pieces of tissue that failed to be recovered from the factory she had been found in. In the other jar were the girl’s ovaries. In addition, on the side table were an arrangement of flowers, as well as a card. Inside, written in a clean penmanship were the words “Get well soon.”

The girl has refused to have the skin graft reapplied, and has demanded that the previous work be undone. Unfortunately, due to legal reasons, despite her mental state her refusal to have the original graft reapplied, and refusal of additional grafts, must be honored. At this time the doctors are continuing to give the girl medicine in the hope that what grafts they have applied will remain intact. She has requested that the surgery be reversed, but such a procedure is understandably not one that anyone is willing to undertake.

Her family has been trying to get the local courts to grant them power over their daughter’s care, yet the process is still only in its preliminary stages. The woman has continued to mentally falter since the visit from the assailant, and had begun to take time out of her day to look at herself in the mirror. Despite the numerous objects the assailant handled, no fingerprints or DNA evidence could be found on the girl or the objects in the room.
