Hospital Update “Spawn”

“Don't see me. No matter what.

There is something wrong with me, and people are starting to get hurt. I don't leave my house anymore.

I can't.

That kid...what used to be that kid keeps knocking on my back window. The only solution that seems to be possible is a shovel. I suppose that is going to have to do.

I saw some black thing in the backyard. Was slimy because it was dead. Something was wrong with it. Where it touched the skin. Don't touch the skin. Just burn it.

Don't try to find me.

I found the shovel. I can get started.

The dog was the first to go. He was just sniffing around outside, looking for a place to piss. The thing must have been in the bushes. I heard a yelp. The dog came running to the door. His face was all messed up, like it was dissolving.

I quickly poured water on him and took him to the vet. Vet had no idea what could have caused it. Said there wasn't an animal in the area that could do something like that, but he said the damage wouldn't be permanent, and after wrapping him up and giving me some meds, he let me take Bailey home.

I stayed home the first day, just to make sure he wasn't playing with it. He was a smart dog though. Seemed really tired, but he ate fine for the most part. The next day I went back to work. I guess I had just assumed if he was fine the first day that he would be fine the second. I got home that night, but Bailey wasn't barking like he normally did. I quickly opened the door and turned on the lights. I nearly vomited when I got into the hallway.

There wasn't much left and it smelled like a furnace.

I called animal control and told them what had happened. They said that they had heard reports of that before, but that they weren't able to elaborate. They came over and grabbed what was left and sterilized the area. They kept asking me if I had touched it at all.

I kept telling them no, that I hadn't changed the band-ages since he saw the doctor. That once I got home, I had planned on changing the bandages. They checked the back yard. I guess they were looking for the thing. Then they left, saying they were sorry for my loss.

And that was it.

I started hearing sounds in the night. I figured it was whatever they had been looking for. I called animal control again.

I called more than once.

They never told me anything. Couldn't figure out why the fuck they needed to be hush hush about it. Finally, they told me that I should put myself in a hotel for a little bit while they figured it out.

It wasn't good for my health if something was muddling about, so I went to the local housing they suggested.

The building used to be an orphanage.

After a couple of days had passed with no word, I decided to go back. I tried to call. I really did, but no one answered. I wasn't going to stay out of my own damn house for no reason.

I opened the door. Everything seemed fine. I went to the back door to see what they had done. It looked like they had torn up the place.

Then I saw something in the bushes. It stood up and began to walk towards the door. At least it looked like walking. I recognized the ball cap. It was the next door neighbors kid. He always was launching crap over my fence.

He looked like he was made of oil.

Found the shovel. Figure if I bury and burn the bastard, there won't be anything left. I should have told Dan, but what would that do? He wouldn't believe me. Would probably think I killed his kid. But I am not killing his kid. The kid is dead.

And there are more of them outside. There is one on my front step. It knocked on the door yesterday.

I can't leave the house.

There should be enough gas to do it.

I swear to god one of them is barking.”

Someone left this in my mailbox. I am starting to get really pissed off at all the crazies sending me their stories. Like I was going to believe him. How would the note get to me if he was stuck in the house?

Reminds me of the thing I saw the other night.

Margaret is well enough to go back to work. She seems happy about it. She gets a little frustrated when she isn't busy. I am glad she is up and about. Maybe things will get a little bit closer to normal now.

The new neighbors behind me are creeping me out. They just seem to stand around for hours, doing nothing. I saw my neighbor Anton moving in some furniture for them. They seem like real creeps in my opinion.

Apparently, the furniture came from a house down the street. Or at least what had originally been down the street. It had been torn down about three years ago.

The temperature dropped down today. Supposed to be warmer next week.

It is raining. Found a dead bird while walking to work.
